Celebrate Mason’s Birthday in Summerville, SC
Celebrating 10 years as a Guinness World Record holder!

Summerville, South Carolina is known as the
Birthplace of Sweet Tea, and one of the town’s sweetest landmarks is turning another year older. Mason, the World’s Largest Sweet Tea, will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 10–11 AM in Downtown Summerville.
Located beside Town Hall at 200 S. Main Street, Mason is a larger-than-life tribute to Summerville’s sweet tea history. Standing over 15 feet tall and holding up to 2,524 gallons of sweet tea, Mason marks the town’s Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Sweet Iced Tea, set on National Iced Tea Day in 2016.
Summerville’s tea story dates back to the late 1700s and later grew through Dr. Charles Shepard’s Pinehurst Tea Plantation, recognized as the first successful commercial tea farm operation in the United States. Today, that history continues through Mason,
the Sweet Tea Trail, and the local restaurants and shops that help tell Summerville’s sweet tea story.
Visitors can keep the celebration going with the Sweet Tea Trail, a self-guided experience through Summerville featuring local restaurants and shops. Pick up a Sweet Tea Trail guide, collect stamps as you sip and explore, and redeem prizes along the way.
Join us Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 10–11 AM in the courtyard between Town Hall and the parking garage to sing Happy Birthday to Mason and enjoy cupcakes, sweet tea, music, and a special edition giveaway.
