Meet the Judges

of the 2026 Summerville
Sweet Tea Cocktail Contest

Three judges have been carefully appointed to evaluate our sweet tea cocktail entries for the prestigious Critic's Choice Award, taking into account factors like taste, presentation, and originality. We appreciate their dedication of time and expertise!

Rachel Knight: As the first Tourism Director for Berkeley County, Rachel Knight is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that encourage overnight visitation to Berkeley County. Her previous experience includes serving as the Director of Philanthropy at Trident Literacy Association and Event Management at Cru Catering. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of South Carolina Aiken with a minor in Broadcast Journalism.

Rachel, along with her husband, daughter, son and black lab pup, spends quality time together exploring the outdoors, boating and traveling.

Amanda Badgett is a lifelong Summerville girl, wife to Dex, mom, and proud dog mom to Bella, their mini Goldendoodle. Together, Amanda and Dex love sharing the people, places, small businesses, and everyday moments that make their hometown feel like home. She’s always up for finding a hidden gem, trying something new, or cheering on a local business. When she’s not creating content, you’ll find her at a competitive cheer competition supporting her daughter or making memories with her family. Amanda’s favorite part of what she does is connecting people and celebrating the community she’s always called home.

Steve Yeomans: I’m Steve Yeomans and have lived in Summerville since 1976.  I graduated the from the College of Charleston with a BA in English literature, then went on to work in the residential construction industry as a licensed builder for 25 years.  My wife, three teenaged children and I then started a home repair company, Crown Building Services, and operated in the tri-county area for six years.  We sold the business in 2024 and are currently volunteering our time with various non-profit organizations in Summerville.  I’m currently serving as Board Chairman for the Summerville Museum at 100 E. Doty Ave (summervillemuseum.org).  We enjoy travelling and sailing in and around Charleston.
