Hauntings on the Sweet Tea Trail
The disappearing airplane, the drugstore visitor, the earthquake angel, and the Summerville light are just a few of the spooky legends that you can learn on a walk around the town square. Storyteller Tim Lowry will guide the group to several locations to share the stories of these spirits plus impart folk wisdom on how to protect yourself from boo hags and haints!
Ebenezer Scrooge on the Sweet Tea Trail
Join Storyteller Tim Lowry on a stroll through the darkened streets of Summerville as he retells the age old story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his ghostly visitors. See the grave of Jacob Marley, stop by the pub where his death was mourned, and view the perpetual Summerville Snowman who reminds us to “keep Christmas in our hearts all the year.”
History on the Sweet Tea Trail
Storyteller Tim Lowry tells how Indian Tribes, Puritan Missionaries, Wealthy English Planters, and Enslaved African Families all left their mark on Summerville, SC. Plus there was the tragic railroad accident, the man versus horse race, the great earthquake, and the phantom bomber. Not to mention the history of Sweet Tea!
Good Eats on the Sweet Tea Trail
Southerners do love to eat and Storyteller Tim Lowry can take you to some of the best spots for treats both sweet and savory. Along the way he will share plenty of anecdotes and intriguing tales related to the culinary culture of the American South and the Birthplace of Sweet Tea. (There is an additional $25/person charge to cover the cost of 3-4 restaurant tastings.)
Terms:
- Maximum tour size, 45 people (there is no minimum)
- Tours are approximately 75-90 minutes
- Tour dates can be reserved with a “pay or play” letter of agreement
- Non-refundable payment in full for the tour is due thirty days before tour date
- Tours are conducted rain or shine. In the event of hazardous weather (thunder, lightning, wind) every effort will be made to secure an indoor space, but cannot be guaranteed.
- There is no refund of payment due to hurricane, earthquake, flood, fire or any other natural disaster requiring the cancellation of the tour
- Tour bus parking is available adjacent to the town square
- Storyteller Tim Lowry reserves the right to sell books, download cards, and other merchandise at the conclusion of the tour, with no profit share to the tour operator
Fees:
The tour fee is negotiable as tour experiences are customizable, but the range for tour services is $400-$600.
